EPA Rejects Texas Waiver Request

The Environmental Protection Agency rejected Texas Governor Rick Perry’s request to cut in half the Renewable Fuel Standard.  Perry, acting in the interest of his friend Bo Pilgrim, asked the EPA earlier this year to let Texas drop out of the requirement to produce more renewable fuels.  The EPA said “no”, and they were correct to do so.

According to the Houston Chronicle, “EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson said the federal renewable fuel standard that sets the ethanol requirement is not causing economic harm, and is improving national security and benefiting farmers.”
